Temples housing Srivishnu and glorified by the paasurams (poems), called naalaayira dhivyap prabhandam, are called as Divyadesams. Nine Vishnu temples on either side of the river Tampirabarani(in Thoothukudi District) collectively Known as Nava Thirupathi. Nammalvar has sung about these temples.The Nava Thirupathi form an important part of the 108 Divya desams.
